Before anyone makes the decision to become a vegetarian, they often question whether it will make any difference. Your first question might be whether one additional person can make a noticeable difference. However, if enough individuals do stop, it becomes statistically more important to the health of animals on this planet. To provide an example of this, you only have to look at how many people in America suffer with heart disease that eat meat regularly.
Many of today’s heart conditions would not be so commonplace if people did not eat so much food with high levels of cholesterol, such as dairy products and eggs. The organization Earth Save has calculated that a vegetarian has only a quarter of the chance of a heart attack as someone who has meat in their diet. As for people who are pure vegans, it gets even lower: they have less than 1/10 the chance of having a heart. The heart is only one organ that benefits from a vegetarian diet because there are other health advantages.
Cancer is another area where reductions are seen as meat contains a number of preservatives which have been linked to this disease. Vegetarians will also benefit from knowing they will not be consuming many of the hormones cattle ingest as part of their feed; which can cause hormonal problems in people. And you won’t consume as much lactose, which most people cannot digest properly and which some dietitians have suggested is a cause of digestive problems. The health advantages to becoming a vegetarian are unquestionable but there is also the fact that many animals will not lose their lives to feed you either.
In fact the death toll of animals may be far greater than expected with figures in the region of 2,700 eaten by an average American in their lifetime. It is a sobering thought that a change in diet could literally save hundreds of animals from being slaughtered over the course of a decade alone. To help even further and stop the number of battery hens and dairy cows from having to suffer degrading conditions you could stop drinking milk and eating eggs. Well after reading this it is obvious the easy answer is yes it is better to become a vegetarian. It matters to the thousands of animals you could potentially save and it matters to you as an individual because you can greatly reduce your chances of getting cancer and heart disease.

Phytonutrients or as they are more commonly known, antioxidants, may have a huge impact on health as they have the capability to prevent and fight many diseases including cancer. Phytonutrients are an amazing discovery, So far scientists have cataloged over nine hundred phytonutrients (phytochemicals),with these discoveries (and more to come), scientists believe the face of health care is changing, hopefully forever. Recent studies have indicated the phytonutrients found in fruit provide a whole host of natural health benefits, acai berries, pomegranates can reduce the signs of aging, whereas cherries can help relieve joint pain.
But is doesn’t stop there as blueberries also contain a lower sugar content than most other fruits as well as many antioxidants. Often the easiest way for people to take fruit is in juice form which are readily available all year round, many benefits have been found including an improvement in our circulatory system and an increase in our own ability to ward of illness. Antioxidants contained in these fruits can also help ward off and fight disease and infections we may suffer from. Even the humble apple is not immune with properties to help ward of heart problems.
The likes of many citrus fruits also have health benefits associated with the phytochemicals they contain. Tart cherries can also provide anti-inflammatory benefits to people who suffer with conditions that cause pain in and around the joints. Other substances, vitamins and minerals for instance, are also being studied more carefully even though their benefits are well documented. these have anti-viral and anti-fungal properties that can be of benefit to people.
Many aging conditions benefit from the use of these compounds including, strokes, heart conditions and Alzheimer’s. The benefit of tomatoes has been in the news recently with the hopes that it contains anti-cancer properties as well as those that can help prevent heart disease. The best way to concentrate these antioxidant properties has been found when we use tomato sauce, puree and juice. The sweet, juicy watermelon is actually packed with some of the most important in phytonutrients in nature. With all the natural goodness fruit contains and now the health benefits as well, isn’t it time for you to start having more fruit in your diet.

We’ve all heard of the dangers related to smoking cigarettes, but what are the risks of cigar smoking and are the dangers just as risky, or more so? Well, regular cigar smoking, according to the National Cancer Institute, has been associated with a major health menace to the the lungs, larynx, oral cavity, and esophagus. Recent investigation has determined that pancreatic cancer is associated with typical cigar smoking too. Cigar smokers that inhale while enjoying a stogie are In addition cautioned by physicians that they’re at a greater risk of acquiring heart conditions and lung disease. Try Nicocure instead for a safe, all-natural alternative to those ineffective, nicotine-based gums.
Apparently, regular smoke inhalation appear to dramatically increase the health threats to individuals that smoke cigars. You are eight times more likely to develop some sort of oral cancer than a nonsmoker, if you smoke three to four cigars a day. Unfortunately, we do not yet know the health risks of smoking the occasional cigar but it seems clear however that smoking cigars on a daily basis can pose serious health risks.
Many people wonder why so many people are addicted to cigarettes, as opposed to cigars. Truth be told, all tobacco products can become addictive as they contain the addictive chemical nicotine in them, and this includes smokeless tobacco as well. Smokeless tobacco products, such as chewing tobacco are just as addictive as cigarettes, because they contain nicotine as well. Many cigar smokers do not inhale deeply, thus causing the nicotine to be inhaled superficially. Nicotine is absorbed much faster in cigarette smokers, however, as most of them do tend to inhale deeply. If a user smokes cigars on a regular basis, it is still very possible for them to become addicted, even if they do inhale the nicotine superficially.
Why don’t cigar smokers smoke less often if nicotine is so addictive? It appears that less smokers become addicted to cigars for a variety of reasons. Since less nicotine is absorbed by the body due to superficial smoke inhalation by cigar smokers, the result is less people becoming addicted, obviously. Also, cigars are not as readily accessible as cigarettes and are still viewed by most as a luxury item, saved for special occasions and used infrequently. However, when cigars are smoked on a regular basis, they can become addictive and the health risks of any kind of smoking increase dramatically as frequency of use increases.
