The Desert Garden: "Nurturing the Seeds You Plant"

The Diamond Mine: "Discover the Precious Gems of Bowie"

Christy has many outreach programs going on from the cafe, including a Free Produce Day

The cafe is located at 307 W Business Loop I-10, between Arizona I-10 exits 366 & 362

My name is Christy Sprott and I run the Desert Garden Cafe as well as package and make mesquite products for SPMCo. We opened in February 2005 as a place for community outreach in Bowie, a town of about 400 people in the SE corner of Arizona. We serve organic coffee, Earl Grey iced tea, an assortment of other teas, all-natural sodas, ices, Arlene's Southwest Cheesecake, Lime Pie, mesquite brownies, power bars, fruit/yogurt parfaits, smoothies, soy milkshakes, floats, etc. We have wireless internet access and plan to offer a refreshing break from the road with either privacy or pleasant, interesting conversation.

Ben has set it up so that we get biweekly deliveries from the Tucson Food Coop. We have some catalogs at the cafe.

My other hat is president of Rural ACCENT, Inc non-profit group, whose programs include a youth center, food pantry, community garden, community improvement, and job training programs. I will be training several youth this summer at the Diamond Mine, myself. We also will be hosting open house for youth this summer until the community center is remodeled, and we already host community meetings every other friday.

Please stop by as you're travelling east or west on the I-10 (and pick up a bag of mesquite meal!).

These are the primary helpers 'round the cafe, Christy's children Cory & Matthew

First Customers Mel Jackson and Al Torralba
